Promotions committee
by Lisa Kuly

Shugyo Blimp over Toronto Throughout the summer, the Promotions Committee has been cooking up some ideas on ways to bring new members into our dojo. First and foremost, however, we have changed our name from the Promotions Committee to the Commotions Committee (pending Sensei's approval, of course.) Here is a list of actions, aimed at promoting our beloved art:

...make a big, outrageous display of folding your gi, thus distracting the other people in the laundromat...
  • Practice your techniques in public places (subway platforms, workplace, street corners, and restaurants). Once you have created an audience, hand out flyers. (There is a box containing 5000 flyers sitting in the dojo.)
  • For those of you who use laundromats, make a big, outrageous display of folding your gi, thus distracting the other people in the laundromat from watching the drier and Dini Petti. You can direct all enquiries to the bulletin board (every laundromat seems to have one) where you have already attached a flyer (from the box of 5000 flyers sitting in the dojo).
  • Bring new dates to the dojo. See if they give good break-fall.
  • Phase II of the "Adopt a Bulletin Board in your Neighbourhood" Campaign is "Adopt a Very Tall, Free-standing Structure in your Neighbourhood." We plan to do a blanket drop of those 5000 flyers sitting in a box in the dojo, from the CN Tower, in the very near future.

If there is any way you can help us make a commotion, let us know. By the way, the blanket drop from the CN Tower is not the best idea, because all the flyers will probably land in Lake Ontario.
